Counselling

Private practice offering talking therapy, supporting clients to achieve personal growth and improved mental health.

What is your approach? I am a BACP registered counsellor with a background in Psychosynthesis, which focuses on psychological integration. Clients have described me as caring, supportive and engaging, and often report having greater clarity, less anxiety, and a better relationship with themselves and those around them as a result of our work together. I include a range of approaches in how I work, and am also a trained coach.

What are sessions like? We will sit down together and have an active, exploratory conversation each week. I see you as the expert on your own experience, and myself as a facilitator: there are times where you might need space to put words to and express what’s going on for you, there might be times where I play a more active role and we’re working things out together. I tailor my approach as needed, sometimes suggesting experiments or exercises to help us along, and I tend to share my thoughts and feedback where helpful, versus being silent. We would regularly review how the work is going, refining goals and focus as we learn more. A counselling process often helps to expand self-awareness, offers insights and helps you to reconnect with important qualities within yourself, all of which helps to support change.

When and how will we meet? I meet with clients once a week for a 50-minute session. My in-person practice is currently full, but I do have availability for remote sessions via video call.

How do I get started? Please send me an email, and we can arrange a 30-minute introductory call to get to know each other (no fee). Often this is the best way to see if we might be a good fit. It can sometimes feel nerve-wracking to have this initial call, something you can try is imagining you’re going to speak with a supportive friend you just haven’t met yet.

What do you charge? I’m passionate about access to mental health support, and offer a number of discounted places for those who are seeking support but cannot afford private rates. We can discuss fees during an introductory call.

Can I know more about your background? Alongside my work in HR and coaching, I’ve spent nearly a decade volunteering and working in the mental health space, spending hundreds of hours supporting individuals in various services and charities as a counsellor. My interest in mental health and coaching began, as it often does, as a result of certain life experiences for which I felt I needed support - which means I understand what it’s like to be in the client’s chair. I have explored approaches to personal growth extensively, which all informs how I work, but I am not tied to a certain philosophy or approach - I believe it’s critical to be curious and discover what gives support and meaning to each individual.
